Method of selection for BSF Group-A/B/C Recruitment

Selection for all vacancies will be based on a written test conducted at various examination centers. The exam will consist of a single composite paper lasting two hours. Candidates will answer objective-type questions with multiple-choice options on OMR-based answer sheets. This streamlined selection process ensures fairness and efficiency in evaluating applicants.

Application Fee for BSF Vacancy 2024

Applicants are required to pay an examination fee of ₹400 for Group-A positions, ₹200 for Group-B vacancies, and ₹100 for Group-C vacancies, along with an additional service charge of ₹47.20 by the Common Service Centre (CSC). However, candidates belonging to SC/ST categories, females, ex-servicemen, and BSF personnel are exempt from this fee. Payments can be made online using Net banking, Credit/Debit cards from any bank, or at the nearest authorized Common Service Centre.

Selection Process

The UPPSC 2023 selection process consists of two phases: a Written Test and an Interview. Here are the key points regarding the Written Test:

  1. Each question in the Written Test offers four answer alternatives.
  2. For every incorrect answer, a penalty will be imposed by deducting a portion of the marks assigned to that question.
  3. If a candidate provides multiple answers to a question, even if one of them is correct, it will be considered incorrect, and the penalty will apply (equivalent to one-third, or 0.33 marks).
  4. Leaving a question blank, without providing any answer, will also result in a penalty for that specific question.

Selection Procedure :

Online (Prelim): Phase-I Preliminary Examination consisting of Objective Tests for 100 marks will be conducted online in the month of October 2021 (tentative). This would consist of 3 sections.

  1. English Language – 30 marks, 20 minutes duration in the English language
  2. Reasoning Ability – 35 marks, 20 minutes duration in the English/Hindi languages
  3. Quantitative Aptitude – 35 marks, 20 minutes duration in the English/Hindi languages

Online Main (Final) examination  – Main Examination of 2.5 hours will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 30 marks will be held in the month of November 2021 (tentative). Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online.

(i) Objective Test :

  1. Test of Reasoning – 50 marks in Eng/ Hindi languages of 40 minutes duration
  2. Test of English Language – 50 marks in Eng language of  40 minutes duration
  3. Test of General Awareness – 50 marks in Eng/Hindi languages of 30 minutes duration
  4. Test of Quantitative Aptitude – 50 marks in Eng/Hindi languages of 40 minutes duration

(ii) Descriptive Test: The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with 30 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing -10 marks & Essay – 20 marks). The descriptive test will be in English and will be conducted through on-line mode.

Interview : Interview Candidates who have been shortlisted at the end of Phase-II will subsequently be called for an Interview to be conducted by the Company. Interviews will be conducted at selected centers. The weightage (ratio) of the online Examination and the interview will be 75:25 respectively.
