The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will hold the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) (II), 2022 on 4th September 2022 for admission to Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Naval Academy, Ezihimala, Air force Academy, Hyderabad, and Officers Training Academy, Chennai for the courses (Men and Women) for recruitment of following various 339 Govt Job Vacancy of Officers in Navy, Army, and Indian Air Force. (UPSC Advt. No. 11/2022.CDS-II ).

Online application on prescribed format is invited by UPSC for Recruitment of Trainee Officers in Indian Armed Forces through Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) (II), 2022. This is the detailed information about UPSC Defence Services Examination-II 2022.

UPSC CDS (II) 2022 Examination – 339 Vacancies

  1. Indian Military Academy, Dehradun: 100 vacancies for 155th (DE) Courses commencing in July 2023 (including 13 vacancies reserved for NCC `C’ Certificate (Army Wing) holders)
  2. Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala: 22 vacancies for Executive (General Service)/Hydro (including 03 vacancies for NCC ‘C’ Certificate (Naval Wing through NCC Special entry)) holders Course commencing in July 2023
  3. Air Force Academy, Hyderabad: 32 vacancies for (Pre-Flying) 214 F(P) Training Course commencing in July 2023 Course. (including 03 vacancies are reserved for NCC `C’ Certificate (Air Wing) holders through NCC Spl. Entry)

Conditions of Eligibility for CDS-(II) Exam 2022

(A) Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status

  1. For Indian Military Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July 1999 and not later than 1st July 2004 only are eligible.
  2. For Naval Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July 1999 and not later than 1st July 2004 only are eligible.
  3. For Air Force Academy: 20-24 years i.e. Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July 1999 and not later than 1st July 2003 only are eligible.
  4. For Officers’ Training Academy – (SSC Course for Men): Male candidates (Unmarried or Married) born not earlier than 2nd July 1998 and not later than 1st July 2004 only are eligible.
  5. For Officers Training Academy – SSC (Women Non- Technical) Course :  (a) Unmarried Women, issueless widows who have not remarried, and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been not earlier than 2nd July 1998 and not later than 1st July 2004.

(B) Educational Qualifications

  1. For Indian Military Academy and Officers’ Training Academy: Degree of a recognized university or equivalent.
  2. For Naval Academy: Degree in Engineering from a recognized University/Institution.
  3. For Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognized university (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Degree in Engineering from a recognized University/Institution.
  4. Candidates who are studying in the final year Degree Course and yet to pass final year degree examination or equivalent examination can also apply for the Examination, but they will be required to submit proof of passing the Degree Examination or equivalent examination by the specified dates.

(C) Physical Standards 

candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards for admission to the combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) (II), 2022 as prescribed in the detailed advertisement on the UPSC website.

Application Fee

Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of ₹200/- either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash or by using the Net Banking facility of SBI  or by using Visa/ Master Credit/ Debit Card.

How to Apply for UPSC CDS Exam-II 2022 ?  

Candidate must apply online in the prescribed format at http://upsconline.nic.in/mainmenu2.php from 18/05/2022 to 07/06/2022 6.00 pm for UPSC Combined Defence Service Exam (II) 2022.  The online Applications can be withdrawn from 14/06/2022 to 20/06/2022 till 6.00 PM.

  1. Shortlisting of Applications –  Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) reserves will shortlist applications and fix cutoff percentage of marks for each Engineering discipline/stream without assigning any reason. The cut off will be applied in each stream on the cumulative percentage of marks obtained by the candidates up to the final semester/year.
  2. Centre Allotment – shortlisting of applications, the Centre allotment will be intimated to the candidate via their email. After allotment of the Selection Centre viz. Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bangalore (Karnataka) and Kapurthala (Punjab), candidates will have to log in to the website and select their SSB dates which are available on a first-come-first-serve basis initially.
  3. SSB Interview – Candidates will be put through the two-stage selection procedure interviewed by Psychologist, Group Testing Officer and Interviewing Officer. Those who clear Stage-1 will go to Stage-2. Those who fail in Stage-1 will be returned on the same day. The duration of SSB interviews is five days.
  4. Merit List – merit list will be prepared engineering stream/subject wise on the basis of the marks obtained by the candidate at SSB interview.

  • Age: 20-25 years as of 1st August 2022. The upper age is relaxable for SC/ ST/ OBC and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice.
  • Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree from any recognised university or an equivalent qualification.
  • Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to the Regulations given in the notice.
  • Sex: Both male and female candidates are eligible for appointment to BSF, CRPF. However, only male candidates are eligible for appointment in ITBP.

Possession of an NCC B or C Certificate will be a desirable qualification. The desirable qualifications will be given consideration at the time of the Interview/ Personality Test only.

Selection Procedure

  • 55 vacancies [50 posts for Male (Gen-45, Wards of Battle Casualties-5) and 05 posts for Female (Gen-4, Wards of Battle Casualties-1)

Age Limit:

Selection Criteria for 52nd NCC Entry in Army

The Criteria of NCC ‘C’ Certificate holders to appear directly for SSB for SSC (Non-Technical) at Officers Training Academy, Chennai : (i) Educational Qualification: Degree of a recognised University or equivalent with aggregate of minimum 50% marks taking into account marks of all years. (ii) Service in NCC: Should have served for a minimum of two academic years in the senior Division of NCC (iii) Grading: Should have a minimum of ‘B’ Grade in ‘C’ Certificate Exam of NCC.

Pay Scale & Stipend

A stipend of training is ₹56100/- during the training is 49 weeks at OTA, Chennai. On completion, they will be commissioned as Lt in the pay scale of 7th CPC Pay Level-10 ₹56100-177500.

Method of Selection 

All Applications in the prescribed format will be forwarded to Rtg. Directorate (NCC) through HQ DG NCC. The NCC Units/GP HQs will forward the applications to State Directorates who in turn will forward the same to Hq DG NCC. On arrival at the SSB, the Shortlisted candidates will be administered stage-1 of the two stage testing procedure.

Medical Examination 

Candidates recommended by the SSB will go under Medical Examination by a Board of Service Medical Officers.

Method of Selection

Only shortlisted eligible candidates depending on the cutoff percentage will be interviewed at one of the Selection Centres viz. Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka) and Kapurthala (Punjab) by Psychologist, Group Testing Officer and Interviewing Officer. Call Up letter for SSB interview will be issued by respective Selection Centres through candidate’s registered e-mail id and SMS only.

Allotment of Selection  Centre is at the discretion of DG Rtg, IHQ of MoD (Army) and NO request for changes are entertained in this regard. Candidates will be put through a two-stage selection procedure at the SSB. Those who clear Stage-I will go to Stage-II. Those who fail in Stage-I will be returned on the same day. The duration of SSB interviews is five days.

Candidates recommended by the SSB will go under Medical Examination by a Board of Service Medical Officers.

Selection Process for Indian Navy 10+2 Btech Entry 2022

Shortlisting of Applications: Indian Navy reserves the right to fix the cut off for shortlisting of applications for SSB based on JEE (Main) All India Common Rank List 2021 (for B.E./B.Tech.). All candidates are required to fill their ranks as per the Common Rank List in the application. SSB interviews for shortlisted candidates will be scheduled at Bangalore / Bhopal / Kolkata / Visakhapatnam from March – April 2022.

SSB Interview: SSB interview will be conducted in two stages. Stage I Screening test consists of Intelligence test, Picture Perception and Group Discussion. Candidates who fail to qualify in Stage I will be routed back on the same day. Stage II test comprises Psychological testing, Personal Interview and Group testing which will last for 04 days. Successful candidates will thereafter undergo Medical Examination (approx. duration 3-5 working days).

Merit List: Separate Merit List for Education Branch and Executive and Technical Branch (in combined) will be prepared based on SSB marks. Candidates declared fit in the medical examination will be appointed as per availability of vacancies in the respective branch.

Indian Navy Recruitment 2022: Selection Procedure

The selection procedure is as follows:-(a) Shortlisting of application will be based on normalised marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying degree. Marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying degree will be normalised.(b) For candidates who have completed MCA and M.Sc marks obtained in all semesters will be considered. In all other cases, marks obtained by candidates in all semesters till fifth semester will be considered. Candidates selected in the final merit list will be required to submit the proof of the completing the qualifying degree with minimum 60% of marks. Candidates failing to meet the criteria will not be permitted to join the Academy.(c) Candidates having Naval/Army/Air Wing ‘C’ certificate issued by the National Cadet Corps will be provided relaxation of 5% in cut off marks for SSB shortlisting. However, at the time of extending the relaxation, the mandatory educational qualification of 60% marks in qualifying degree will be required at the time of shortlisting of candidates and at subsequent stages of selection.(d) No communication will be entertained in this regard.(e) Their SSB interviews will be tentatively scheduled from Aug 21 onwards at Bangalore/ Bhopal/ Visakhapatnam / Kolkata. Merit List

Tenure of Commission

Selected candidates will be granted Short Service Commission initially for 10 years extendable by maximum 04 years in 02 terms (02 years + 02 years), subject to service requirement, performance, medical eligibility and willingness of candidates.
